PATNA: Bihar Police have registered a case against a social media user for allegedly uploading AI-generated videos depicting a teenage girl who was allegedly molested in Jamui district and her male friend. Police described the clips as “misleading and fake” and said their circulation had revealed the girl’s identity and could affect social harmony.

The case was registered at the Cyber Police Station against a user identified by the ID Kishori Kumar Yadav. Police said provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the POCSO Act, the Juvenile Justice Act and the Information Technology Act had been invoked.

The original incident occurred on September 19, when the girl and her male friend, both students at a coaching institute, were allegedly harassed by a group of people. The incident came to public attention after videos circulated on social media. Three accused, who were found to be minors, were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, while two others were arrested following an encounter in which one sustained a bullet injury.

Police have separately taken action against social-media circulation of material connected with the case, citing concerns over the disclosure of the minor girl's identity. Authorities have urged people not to circulate unverified or fabricated material relating to the incident.
