CJP ANNOUNCES NATIONWIDE PROTEST FROM OCTOBER 2, DEMANDS GYANESH KUMAR’S RESIGNATION

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has announced a nationwide protest from October 2, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka said on Monday that the organisation would continue its agitation until Kumar stepped down, following the expiry of a 48-hour deadline previously issued by the group. Ranka also challenged the Chief Election Commissioner to publicly respond to allegations concerning the removal of around 13 crore names from electoral rolls across 30 states and Union Territories.

The organisation has accused the Election Commission of undermining voters’ rights and demanded greater transparency regarding decisions taken during the SIR exercise. Ranka also questioned the reported objections raised by Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi over aspects of the electoral-roll revision process.

The CJP’s announcement follows its earlier launch of the “Election Commission Thik Karo” campaign and its warning of a nationwide agitation, including protests in New Delhi. The organisation has also called for an independent inquiry into the SIR process and changes to the system for appointing election commissioners.

Ranka further said the CJP was expanding its activities across the Northeastern states, focusing on issues affecting students and young people. The organisation also alleged that its members were unlawfully detained by Assam Police during a recent gathering in Guwahati, a claim it has called for authorities to address.
