CJP GIVES CEC GYANESH KUMAR 48-HOUR DEADLINE, THREATENS NATIONWIDE PROTESTS

September 24, 2026

NEW DELHI: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Thursday demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar within 48 hours and threatened to launch nationwide protests, including a movement described as “Jantar Mantar 2.0”.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke made the announcement at a press conference in New Delhi, alleging that the Election Commission’s functioning had undermined voters’ rights and the electoral process. The allegations followed reports that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections to several decisions concerning electoral-roll revisions and election administration.

The organisation demanded Kumar’s removal, criminal proceedings into the alleged irregularities, an independent inquiry into the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and changes to the system governing the Election Commission. Dipke also called on opposition parties to reconsider participating in elections if they believed the electoral process had been compromised.

The Election Commission has maintained that its decisions, including those concerning the SIR exercise, were taken unanimously by the Chief Election Commissioner and the two Election Commissioners. The CJP’s allegations and demands have not been established as findings of a judicial or statutory inquiry.
