CJP LEADER SAURAV DAS ACCUSES CEC GYANESH KUMAR OVER SIR CONTROVERSY

September 23, 2026

NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) co-convener Saurav Das has sharply criticised Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following a report alleging that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections on several occasions over electoral-roll procedures during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Das alleged that the reported developments had undermined voters' ability to use elections to bring about political change. He accused Kumar of acting unlawfully and alleged that the CEC's decisions would benefit the BJP. These are Das's allegations and have not been established by a court or other competent authority.

Das also called for Kumar to face criminal action, using terms including “treason” and “anti-national” in his criticism. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke separately described Kumar as the “enemy of India” and criticised the SIR exercise.

The Election Commission has maintained that, although commissioners raised queries and objections during internal deliberations, all final decisions, including those relating to SIR, were approved unanimously by the three-member Commission. The EC has described SIR as an exercise to identify ineligible and duplicate entries while retaining eligible voters on the electoral rolls.
