A powerful explosion at a private pharmaceutical facility in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri City has killed four workers and left another seriously injured, while authorities investigate the cause of the industrial accident.
A major industrial accident struck Sri City in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district on Saturday after a water boiler exploded at a private pharmaceutical facility. Four workers were killed in the incident, while another worker sustained serious injuries and was taken for medical treatment.
The explosion occurred at the industrial unit in the Sri City Special Economic Zone, where workers were reportedly present during the night shift. Two workers died at the site, while two others later succumbed to their injuries during treatment.
Emergency personnel, including police, fire and rescue teams, rushed to the facility following the blast. Rescue operations were launched, while the injured worker was shifted to hospital for further treatment.
The powerful explosion has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Authorities are examining whether a technical malfunction, failure of safety systems, an operational lapse or another factor may have caused the boiler to explode. The exact cause has not yet been established.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the deaths and directed officials to provide necessary assistance to the affected families and ensure proper medical care for the injured.
The incident has once again highlighted the importance of stringent industrial safety systems at manufacturing facilities, particularly those involving boilers and other high-pressure equipment. A detailed investigation is expected to establish what led to the explosion and whether any safety deficiencies contributed to the tragedy.
