DELHI PWD MINISTER PARVESH VERMA ACCUSED OF SLAPPING AAP MLA’S AIDE DURING ROAD INSPECTION

A political controversy erupted in Delhi on Sunday after Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma was seen in a widely circulated video appearing to slap a man during a road inspection in West Delhi’s Tilak Nagar. The man, identified as Saheb Singh, is associated with AAP MLA Jarnail Singh and was recording the proceedings, according to reports.

The confrontation occurred during an inspection of a newly laid road, where Jarnail Singh and his associates raised questions about the quality of the construction. The video appears to show Verma pushing down Singh’s mobile phone before striking him, after which people at the site intervened.

The Aam Aadmi Party condemned the incident and demanded action against the minister. Singh alleged that he was recording the inspection when Verma confronted him and that security personnel and others accompanying the minister subsequently restrained and threatened him. A complaint has been submitted to Delhi Police, which is verifying the allegations.

Verma has disputed the account presented by the AAP. In a statement, he alleged that AAP workers had behaved disrespectfully and that one of them had made abusive remarks about his family. He also levelled separate allegations against Jarnail Singh concerning the road project, claims that the AAP has rejected.

The incident has triggered a political dispute between the BJP-led Delhi government and the AAP, while the police complaint and competing allegations remain under verification.
