DELHI TRADERS SEEK RAHUL GANDHI RALLY RESCHEDULE, CITE BUSINESS DISRUPTION CONCERNS

October 27, 2026

NEW DELHI, October 27, 2026: Traders in Delhi have urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to postpone his proposed rally at Ramlila Maidan until November 10 or shift the event to another venue, citing concerns over disruption to commercial activities in the capital.

The traders’ appeal centres on the potential impact of a large political gathering on traffic movement, customer access and the daily operations of businesses in surrounding areas. They have asked the Congress leadership to consider the difficulties that traders could face if road restrictions and crowd-management measures interfere with normal commercial activity.

Ramlila Maidan, a prominent venue for political rallies and public gatherings, attracts large crowds during major events. Such gatherings can require extensive security arrangements and traffic diversions, potentially affecting nearby markets and businesses.

The traders have proposed either postponing the rally until November 10 or relocating it to a more suitable venue to minimise disruption. Their request places the scheduling of a major political event at the centre of a discussion over balancing democratic mobilisation with the economic interests of local businesses.

The Congress rally is expected to draw political attention, while the traders’ appeal highlights the logistical challenges associated with organising large public gatherings in densely populated parts of Delhi. Whether the party accepts the proposed changes remains to be seen.
