NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 21: The investigation into the shooting targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai has widened, with the Delhi Police Special Cell arresting four more people, including two women, accused of allegedly arranging and transporting weapons linked to the attack.
The four suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, with two women arrested at New Delhi Railway Station and two men detained in Sonipat, Haryana. They were allegedly assigned to organise logistical support for the attack, in which gunmen opened fire near Pushpa Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening. Shroff escaped unharmed.
The arrested individuals were identified as Kunal, 22, and Sumit, 19, both from Sonipat, along with Radha, 23, from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, and Babita, 23, from Azamgarh. After the Delhi Police apprehended them, Maharashtra Police’s Criminal Investigation Department sought and obtained permission from a Delhi court for their formal arrest and custodial interrogation. The court also granted three days’ transit remand.
According to investigators, Kunal had allegedly collected a pistol and 20 rounds of ammunition from Amritsar on the instructions of Anil Pandit, an alleged criminal operative believed by police to be operating from the United States. Sumit reportedly accompanied him during the collection of the weapon and ammunition.
Police alleged that Kunal subsequently involved Radha, with whom he had developed a relationship, and persuaded her to travel to Mumbai carrying the weapon. Babita allegedly accompanied her on the journey. Investigators said the women travelled from New Delhi Railway Station to Mumbai on October 15, with the pistol concealed in Radha’s bag.
According to the police account, the two women reached Mumbai on October 17 and checked into a hotel after arriving at Dadar. A minor boy allegedly collected the bag containing the weapon from Radha near the hotel at around 11 am that day.
The shooting took place on Sunday evening, October 18, when three alleged assailants fired at Shroff’s vehicle near Pushpa Park in Juhu. The three suspected shooters are separate from the four people arrested in Delhi and Haryana on Tuesday. Police said the women returned to Delhi by train on the day of the shooting, while Kunal allegedly remained in contact with both Radha and Anil Pandit through an encrypted messaging application.
Investigators further alleged that, after learning the shooters were stranded in Mumbai, Anil Pandit instructed Kunal to arrange their escape. The subsequent investigation led police to trace the alleged shooters’ movements across several states.
The three alleged assailants—identified as Rehan and Phool Singh from Haryana’s Sonipat, and Hrithik Kumar from Bihar’s Begusarai—were detained by Kota Police in Rajasthan while travelling on the Pune-Jaipur Express. Police said the suspects had travelled from Mumbai towards Surat before boarding a Jaipur-bound train. They allegedly intended to reach Delhi by road and then flee to Nepal.
According to Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam, Rehan was allegedly the principal accused among the three shooters and had been in contact with Anil Pandit. Investigators suspect that the men were recruited for the attack and promised ₹35,000 as well as opportunities to settle abroad.
The arrests have expanded the investigation beyond the alleged gunmen to those suspected of arranging weapons, transporting them and facilitating the escape plan. Police are continuing to investigate the respective roles of the accused, the alleged communications between them and the wider network behind the attack.
The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings. The latest arrests mark a further development in a case that has prompted coordinated police action across multiple states.
