RAHUL GANDHI CHALLENGES PM MODI TO OPEN DEBATE, ALLEGES FOREIGN SUPPORT
November 2, 2026
NEW DELHI, NOVEMBER 2: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Monday challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to an open debate, alleging that foreign assistance had played a role in bringing him to power and sustaining his position as Prime Minister.
In a post on social media platform X, Gandhi claimed that Modi’s government was supported by foreign interests and alleged that the country’s financial system was controlled and backed by foreigners. He also asserted that foreign social media platforms supported the Prime Minister.
Gandhi challenged Modi to debate the allegations at any venue and at any time, saying that the Prime Minister would not accept the invitation. He did not, however, identify the foreign entities he was referring to or provide further details to substantiate his claims.
The challenge followed Modi’s recent remarks accusing opposition forces of taking foreign help to create instability in India, spreading rumours and attempting to undermine the country’s image. During his Gujarat visit, the Prime Minister had also criticised the Opposition, describing it as an “Avrodh Paksh” rather than a constructive opposition.
