RAHUL GANDHI CRITICISES BJP OVER DELHI MINISTER’S SLAP VIDEO

September 28, 2026

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has criticised the BJP following the circulation of a video appearing to show Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh slapping a man during a road inspection in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar. Gandhi linked the incident to his allegations concerning electoral irregularities and said political power should remain accountable to voters.

The incident occurred while Singh was inspecting a newly laid road. AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, who was present at the site, questioned the quality of the road work and reportedly pulled out portions of the surface by hand. A man recording the proceedings was subsequently seen being slapped by the minister in the video circulated on social media.

The man, identified as Saheb Singh, said he was associated with Jarnail Singh and handled the MLA’s social-media work. Police said he had lodged a complaint against the minister at Vikaspuri police station. Saheb Singh alleged that his phone was taken and that security personnel restrained him during the incident.

Parvesh Singh has disputed the presentation of the video, alleging that AAP workers had abused his family members during the confrontation. He also accused Jarnail Singh of seeking a commission from the road contractor, allegations that the political row has further intensified.

Responding to Gandhi’s criticism, the PWD minister dismissed the Congress leader’s remarks and said Gandhi did not have the full facts of the incident. The competing claims and the complaint lodged with police remain part of the ongoing dispute.
