RAHUL GANDHI HARDENS ELECTION COMMISSION SHOWDOWN, VOWS PROTESTS UNTIL CEC QUITS

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has vowed to continue the opposition’s protests until Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resigns, sharply escalating the confrontation between the INDIA bloc and the Election Commission.

Speaking after being detained during the opposition’s demonstrations in New Delhi, Gandhi accused the Election Commission of undermining the integrity of the electoral process and said the opposition would not retreat from its campaign.

The INDIA bloc has been demanding action over alleged irregularities in electoral rolls and has strongly opposed the Special Intensive Revision exercise. Opposition leaders argue that the process could disenfranchise legitimate voters and have demanded greater transparency from the poll authorities.

The protests have already resulted in repeated confrontations between opposition MPs and Delhi Police, with several senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, being detained during attempts to demonstrate in the capital.

Gandhi’s latest declaration indicates that the dispute is likely to remain a major political flashpoint, with the opposition preparing to sustain its mobilisation and keep pressure on the Election Commission and the Centre.
