RAHUL GANDHI VOWS UNRELENTING ELECTION BATTLE, SAYS NO FORCE CAN SILENCE OPPOSITION
October 7, 2026
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has vowed to continue the opposition’s campaign against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, declaring that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor Union Home Minister Amit Shah could force the INDIA bloc to abandon its demand for the CEC’s resignation.
Speaking after being detained during the opposition’s protest in New Delhi, Gandhi said the campaign would continue until the Election Commission addressed the opposition’s allegations concerning electoral rolls and the conduct of the electoral process.
Gandhi accused the government and the Election Commission of attempting to suppress the opposition’s voice and alleged that the electoral system was being compromised. He maintained that the INDIA bloc would continue its political and legal fight rather than withdraw its demands.
The Congress leader’s remarks came after another confrontation between opposition MPs and Delhi Police during demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among those detained as protesters attempted to press their demands.
The escalating confrontation has intensified the political dispute over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and the functioning of the Election Commission. The opposition has pledged to sustain its protests, turning the issue into a major political confrontation between the INDIA bloc and the BJP-led government.
