RAJNATH SINGH ACCUSES CONGRESS OF EXPLOITING YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH POLITICS OF DISORDER

October 16, 2026

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 16: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has accused the Congress of using young people as pawns in what he described as the politics of anarchy, criticising the opposition party over protests involving the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and other political activists.

Singh’s remarks come amid escalating political tensions surrounding demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demands for his resignation. The protests have drawn attention to disputes over electoral transparency, the revision of voter lists and the functioning of the Election Commission.

The defence minister’s criticism reflects the ruling establishment’s opposition to the protest campaign, which has involved calls for greater accountability from electoral authorities. By accusing Congress of encouraging disorder, Singh questioned the opposition’s role in the demonstrations and its approach to political mobilisation.

The controversy has placed the participation of young people in political protests at the centre of a wider political confrontation. While opposition activists have raised concerns about democratic accountability and electoral processes, the BJP has criticised the protests as part of a campaign that risks creating instability.

The exchange underscores the growing divide between the ruling party and its opponents over the nature of political dissent, the responsibilities of opposition parties and the role of young citizens in public movements. The dispute is unfolding against a broader debate over electoral institutions and the limits of protest in India’s democratic system.
