MUMBAI, OCTOBER 19: Mumbai Police have intensified their investigation into the firing incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Juhu, registering a case against three unidentified suspects as the incident triggers fresh concerns over security in the film industry.
The shooting occurred around 7 pm on Sunday, October 18, when three motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly fired seven rounds at a car carrying Shroff and his driver as they were leaving Pushpa Narsee Park, also known as Jamnabai Nursery, after a birthday gathering. The actor escaped serious injury but sustained minor abrasions from shattered glass. His driver, Firdaus, suffered a bullet injury to his left hand, while a nearby autorickshaw driver was also injured in the firing.
Two men identifying themselves as Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu subsequently claimed responsibility for the attack in a voice message circulated on social media, allegedly asserting links to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The message reportedly connected the shooting to Shroff’s professional association with actor Salman Khan and issued further threats. The claims are being examined by investigators and have not, by themselves, conclusively established who ordered or carried out the attack.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the shooting, describing the attackers’ actions as cowardly and assuring that those responsible would be arrested. He also assured Shroff that adequate security would be provided. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the actor and his family following the incident and pledged government support.
The investigation has focused on identifying the assailants, tracing their movements and examining possible links to organised criminal networks. Police are also investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged gang claim and the threats directed at members of the entertainment industry.
The shooting has renewed concerns about the reach of organised crime and the protection of public figures in Mumbai. Investigators face the immediate task of establishing the identities of the gunmen, determining their motive and verifying whether the people claiming responsibility had any direct role in the attack.
