ADANI GROUP PLANS OVER ₹1 LAKH CRORE INVESTMENT IN BENGAL OVER NEXT DECADE
September 24, 2026
KOLKATA: Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani has announced plans to invest more than ₹1 lakh crore in West Bengal over the next decade, describing the state as a key location for India’s next phase of economic growth. He made the announcement while addressing the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s annual session in Kolkata on Thursday.
The proposed investments are expected to cover ports, logistics, power generation, transmission and distribution, roads, bridges, ropeways, green cement and hyperscale data centres. Adani said Bengal’s geographical position, with links to the mineral and industrial belts of Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh and access to the Northeast and markets across the Bay of Bengal, gives it strategic importance.
Adani also highlighted the proposed Adani Arogya Mandir in New Town, a 2,000-bed medical institute announced earlier in the day. According to him, half of its beds will be dedicated to people unable to afford quality healthcare. The group also announced support for the revitalisation of Kumartuli Ghat, promotion of Bengal’s cultural programmes and conservation of the historic Writers’ Building.
Calling Bengal his potential “second karmabhoomi” after Mundra in Gujarat, Adani said the state should build on its own geographical, intellectual and industrial strengths rather than seek to replicate another region’s development model.
