AMIT SHAH’S BELUR MATH VISIT SET FOR SUNDAY WITH SUVENDU ADHIKARI AND SAMIK BHATTACHARYA
October 16, 2026
HOWRAH, OCTOBER 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission in Howrah district, on Sunday. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya are expected to accompany him during the visit.
The proposed visit will bring the senior BJP leadership to one of Bengal’s most prominent spiritual institutions, associated with the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sri Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. Belur Math is internationally recognised for its spiritual heritage and its work in education, healthcare, relief and social service.
Shah’s visit comes amid heightened political activity in West Bengal, where the BJP leadership has been strengthening its organisational engagement across the state. The presence of Adhikari and Bhattacharya alongside the Union home minister is expected to draw considerable political attention.
Belur Math, situated on the western bank of the Hooghly river, is an important pilgrimage destination and a major centre of the Ramakrishna movement. Its spiritual significance extends beyond political affiliations, attracting visitors from across India and abroad.
The planned Sunday visit is therefore notable both for the participation of senior national and state BJP leaders and for its setting at one of Bengal’s most distinguished religious and cultural landmarks.
