JALPAIGURI: A 55-year-old bakery manager was found dead with multiple injuries inside his workplace in Jalpaiguri town on Friday morning after unidentified intruders allegedly broke into the premises during the night. The deceased, Hafizul Rahman, worked at Paris Bakery in the Racecoursepara–Nayabusty area and usually stayed there overnight.

Employees arriving at the bakery discovered Rahman lying in a pool of blood inside his room and alerted police. Officers from Kotwali police station reached the spot and sent the body for further examination. Rahman was originally from the Pursurah area of Hooghly district and had been living and working in Jalpaiguri for several years.

Police suspect that the incident may have been linked to a robbery attempt after finding the cash drawer damaged and reporting that some money was missing. Investigators believe the intruders may have encountered Rahman while attempting to steal cash and attacked him when he resisted. He is suspected to have suffered injuries from sharp weapons.

Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the bakery and surrounding areas to identify those involved. Employees said the intruders may have entered through a ventilator. Police have also detained one person for questioning in connection with the case, while the exact circumstances and motive remain under investigation.
