BENGAL ALLOTS 256 ACRES IN PURULIA TO JUPITER DEFENCE

KOLKATA: The West Bengal government has allotted around 256 acres of land in Purulia district to Jupiter Defence Private Limited for setting up an integrated defence manufacturing facility.

The land has been allotted at the Jangal Sundari Karmanagari Phase II Industrial Park in Raghunathpur. The allotment was announced during an industry programme organised by the state government in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Jupiter Defence, part of the Jupiter Wagons group, described the proposed facility as a large-scale, state-of-the-art defence manufacturing unit. The company said the project is expected to become West Bengal’s first major defence manufacturing facility of its kind.

The company said the project is intended to strengthen domestic defence production while creating employment opportunities and supporting local businesses and ancillary industries. No specific investment amount or completion timeline has been announced so far.
