Former West Bengal minister Indranil Sen has been remanded to police custody until November 10 in connection with an alleged corruption case linked to Durga Puja festivities. The development marks a significant turn in the investigation into suspected financial irregularities surrounding the organisation of the festival.

Sen, who previously held ministerial responsibilities in the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government, was produced before the court as investigators pursued allegations concerning the handling of funds associated with Durga Puja. The remand will allow the police to question him further and investigate the alleged financial transactions and the roles of other individuals who may be connected to the case.

The investigation centres on suspected irregularities in the management and use of funds linked to Durga Puja arrangements. Authorities are expected to examine financial records and other relevant evidence as part of their inquiry.

The case has drawn attention because of Sen’s former position in the state government and the cultural and public significance of Durga Puja in Bengal. However, the allegations remain subject to investigation, and the remand order does not establish guilt.

The police investigation is expected to continue during the period of custody, with further legal proceedings depending on the evidence gathered and the findings presented before the court.
