KUNAL GHOSH REPORTS SECOND ATTACK ON HIS CAR IN KOLKATA WITHIN TWO DAYS
September 27, 2026
Trinamool Congress MLA Kunal Ghosh has alleged that his vehicle was attacked in Kolkata’s Beleghata area on Sunday, marking the second such incident involving the legislator within 24 hours. Ghosh alleged that a group of people followed his car and attacked it near Phoolbagan while he was travelling to an event.
According to Ghosh, the attackers surrounded his vehicle and broke its glass, allegedly using a hammer and a firearm. He also claimed that attempts were made to pull him out of the car. His driver subsequently took the vehicle to Narkeldanga police station, where Ghosh sought shelter. Police have begun examining CCTV footage and gathering witness accounts.
The allegation follows an earlier incident on Saturday in Uttarpara, where Ghosh’s vehicle was attacked with stones, bricks, eggs and other objects while he was travelling to a public meeting addressed by Mamata Banerjee in Serampore. Police had not publicly established responsibility for that incident.
Ghosh has alleged political involvement in the attacks, while BJP leaders have rejected the accusation and attributed the incidents to internal Trinamool Congress tensions. The latest incident is under investigation, with authorities seeking to establish the identity and motive of those involved.
