KUNAL GHOSH’S CAR ATTACKED WITH EGGS, BRICKS AND LATHIS IN HOOGHLY

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress MLA Kunal Ghosh’s vehicle was attacked with eggs, bricks and sticks at Uttarpara in Hooghly district on Saturday while he was travelling to Serampore to attend a public meeting addressed by party chief Mamata Banerjee. The attack reportedly damaged the vehicle’s windshields.

According to Ghosh, a mob stopped and surrounded his car near Sakherbazar, shouting slogans including “go back” and “thief” before throwing eggs and bricks at the vehicle. He alleged that people carrying sticks and rods were involved and said he was unable to continue towards the meeting.

Ghosh accused BJP workers of carrying out the attack and said he would approach the state police headquarters with the damaged vehicle. Mamata Banerjee also alleged that BJP supporters were responsible and claimed that people were being prevented from reaching the Serampore meeting.

The BJP has denied involvement. Rajya Sabha MP Rahul Sinha said those surrounding Ghosh’s vehicle were not BJP workers and attributed the incident to internal Trinamool Congress tensions. Other BJP leaders similarly rejected the allegation, with one describing the incident as a spontaneous public reaction
