September 25, 2026
KOLKATA: The Adani Group will invest more than ₹4,000 crore to build the 2,000-bed Adani Arogya Mandir in New Town, with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari laying the foundation stone on Thursday. The project will combine a multispeciality hospital, medical college and advanced research facilities.
The not-for-profit institution will reserve 1,000 beds for economically weaker sections eligible under state and central health insurance schemes. The 51.75-acre campus is expected to handle more than two lakh inpatients and over 20 lakh outpatients annually and generate more than 10,000 jobs across the healthcare ecosystem.
The campus will include a medical college with an annual intake of 150 undergraduate and more than 100 postgraduate students, along with nursing, allied healthcare and paramedical institutions. The hospital will initially focus on cancer treatment and specialised tertiary care, with plans for research in areas including genomics, precision medicine, biomedical informatics, artificial intelligence and clinical trials. The Adani Foundation has engaged Mayo Clinic Global Consulting and Singapore’s SingHealth for expertise.
The hospital is expected to become operational within three years. The project forms part of a broader Adani Group investment roadmap of more than ₹1 lakh crore in West Bengal by 2035, covering infrastructure, energy, logistics and technology sectors.
