SSC REVISES HIGHER SECONDARY TEACHER VACANCY MATRIX FOR GOVERNMENT-AIDED SCHOOLS

September 27, 2026

The West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) has published a revised vacancy list and category-wise seat matrix for recruitment of higher secondary teachers in government-aided schools, following the state’s reduction of OBC reservation from 17 per cent to 7 per cent.

The overall number of vacancies remains unchanged at 12,445, covering 33 subjects. However, unreserved vacancies have increased after the 10 per cent OBC-A quota was removed, with seats previously allocated to OBC-A transferred to the unreserved category.

The recruitment process began in May 2025 under the earlier 17 per cent OBC reservation framework. The SSC is now recasting the candidate panel published in January, after which shortlisted candidates are expected to be called for interviews according to the revised vacancy structure.

The revised list is part of the ongoing recruitment process for higher secondary teaching posts and follows changes to the state’s reservation framework.
