October 30, 2026
RAIGANJ, OCTOBER 30, 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, during a visit to Karnajora in Raiganj, North Dinajpur, urged residents to remain alert against what he described as infiltrators and anti-national activities along the India-Bangladesh border. He used terms including “cockroach” and “tukde tukde gang” while warning against alleged infiltration and asked people to inform the police and Border Security Force (BSF) about suspicious activities.
Adhikari said the state government was committed to granting citizenship to Hindu refugees from Bangladesh under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He stated that approximately 9,000 citizenship applications were pending in the district and instructed the district magistrate to complete the hearings by November 30. He also said eligible applicants would be enrolled as voters when the revised electoral roll was published in January.
The Chief Minister further called for the reopening of pending police cases against Chopra Trinamool Congress MLA Hamidul Rahaman. He also said that illegal madrasas would not be allowed to operate and that all educational institutions should sing the complete version of Vande Mataram.
His remarks came during a public-service distribution programme in a border district with a substantial Muslim population. The visit also featured his emphasis on accelerating the transfer of land to the BSF for fencing along the international border.
