FRESH ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES CLAIM THREE MORE LIVES IN GAZA AMID FRAGILE CEASEFIRE
November 2, 2026
GAZA: At least three Palestinians were killed and several others injured in fresh Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday, November 2, according to Palestinian health officials, raising further concerns over the fragile ceasefire agreement in the war-torn territory.
Two people were killed and six others wounded in separate Israeli airstrikes in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Another Palestinian was killed in an attack targeting the Al-Mussadar area, according to medical officials.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the latest attacks. Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of rebuilding its military capabilities and violating the year-old ceasefire, allegations that the Palestinian militant group denies. Hamas has instead accused Israel of undermining the peace agreement through continued military operations.
The US-brokered ceasefire agreement envisages the eventual reconstruction of Gaza. However, negotiations have stalled over major disagreements concerning Hamas's disarmament and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territory. Israeli troops currently control approximately two-thirds of Gaza, while most of the enclave's population remains concentrated in the remaining areas amid widespread destruction.
According to Gaza health officials, at least 1,580 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire came into effect. Israel has reported the deaths of four of its soldiers during the same period.
The continuing casualties highlight the persistent insecurity in Gaza despite the ceasefire agreement, while stalled negotiations have further complicated efforts to establish lasting peace and begin reconstruction.
