At least 13 people were killed and 10 others injured after a Russian jet-powered drone struck two trains at a railway station in Dnipro, central Ukraine, on Thursday, according to officials.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the incident as a “horrific attack” in a post on X. The state railway company, Ukrzaliznytsia, said the drone hit a platform where a commuter train was preparing to depart for Zaporizhzhia, a city in southern Ukraine.

Regional governor Oleksandr Hanzha and Dnipro mayor Borys Filatov reported casualties as emergency responders arrived at the scene. The railway company also noted that the strike occurred despite a warning of heightened danger, with people still present on the platform.

The attack adds to the human toll of the continuing Russia–Ukraine war, in which railway infrastructure remains vital for civilian transport and movement across the country.
