SAUDI ARABIA REPORTEDLY OFFERS $1 BILLION THROUGH IRAN TO HALT HOUTHI ATTACKS

October 27, 2026

TEHRAN, October 27, 2026: Saudi Arabia has reportedly offered $1 billion to Yemen’s Houthi movement through Iran as part of a proposed arrangement to secure a ceasefire and stop attacks against the kingdom, according to media reports citing unnamed Gulf diplomatic sources.

The reported proposal emerged amid escalating regional tensions and continued Houthi attacks targeting Saudi infrastructure, including oil facilities. Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman reportedly travelled to Tehran for discussions aimed at reducing hostilities, alongside representatives from Turkey and Pakistan.

Iran has offered to facilitate negotiations between Riyadh and the Houthis, potentially creating a diplomatic channel to address the conflict in Yemen. The reported financial arrangement is linked to earlier understandings involving Saudi assistance for public-sector salaries and reconstruction in Houthi-controlled areas in exchange for an end to attacks.

However, the alleged $1 billion offer remains unconfirmed. Saudi Arabia confirmed the diplomatic visit but did not acknowledge any transfer of money. The kingdom has also maintained that it opposes making concessions under military pressure.

The reported initiative highlights the complicated regional diplomacy surrounding the Yemen conflict, as Saudi Arabia and Iran engage in efforts to prevent further escalation. Whether the discussions will produce a ceasefire remains uncertain, with the proposal’s terms and the Houthis’ response still unclear.
