TRUMP’S GAZA RECOVERY PLAN PUTS SIX-MONTH COST AT $2.45 BILLION
September 23, 2026
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace is set to present a six-month, $2.45 billion recovery plan for Gaza, according to a report by Axios. The proposal contains 66 projects covering temporary accommodation, removal of rubble, hospital rehabilitation, economic recovery and the deployment of a multinational security force.
The plan estimates that the physical damage in Gaza has reached approximately $35.2 billion. It projects that complete recovery and reconstruction would require about $71.4 billion over the next decade, in line with a separate 2026 assessment by the United Nations, European Union and World Bank.
Infrastructure projects account for roughly $1 billion of the six-month proposal, including around $400 million for temporary shelters, $275 million for rubble and unexploded-ordnance clearance and $50 million for hospital rehabilitation. The security component is estimated at about $885 million, including funding for an international stabilisation force and Palestinian police.
The proposal also includes programmes for healthcare, education, welfare, electricity and water restoration, digital services and support for small businesses. However, the full $2.45 billion has not yet been secured, and implementation would depend on political and security arrangements involving Israel, Hamas, the Palestinian technocratic government and participating countries.
